Oxley Drive

Oxley Drive began in November 2022, the house was finished in February 2024, with landscaping completed in August 2024. Conway Building Co was contracted by PM White Building for a site management role. It was a full renovation and addition designed by Justin Dykes and the team at Solis Haus Architects.

We extended the two-story building to incorporate an open plan kitchen with panoramic views over Mittagong and a master suite on the second floor with an ensuite and walk in robe. We extended the old sunroom out and added a second floor above to take advantage of the view.

We were able to keep the original shape of the building and reconfigure the layout to accommodate a large family, while keeping the original character of the home. Each bedroom has its own ensuite where we were able to lift the floor height on the top floor to achieve a flush transition into the new bathrooms.

The existing roof had to be re-engineered to take the load of the slate roof. This was done by strengthening the existing trusses with LVL beams and hand pitching the new sections of roof. We were able to get a flat consistent roof, far superior to the original trusses. Our client wanted higher ceilings for the new kitchen and living area, we were able to dismantle the existing floor and drop the piers to gain an extra 350mm in ceiling height. This also meant cutting into the original ground levels to achieve necessary clearance and ventilation to the subfloor space.

There is a natural spring at the top of the block, from footing stage we installed drainage under the footings to divert the water into a water feature down stream. Due to the high water table and sloping block, piers and footings were extensive to take the load of the new building.

Every part of the Oxley Drive renovation was challenging and extremely rewarding.
