Railway Crescent

Our railway crescent renovation was from November 2022 to August 2023. This was a full renovation to the original home, designed by Conway Building Co.

Due to termite damage, most of the external timber frames had to be re-built. Fortunately, the roof structure hadn’t been affected and we were able to prop the rafters and replace the wall frames, this was also a good opportunity to install new insulation to all walls and update the cladding. We removed all the old vinyl cladding, installed new wall wrap, a ventilated cavity batten system and James Hardie Linea cladding to the whole house. The original windows were single glazed anodised aluminium, we updated to double glazing throughout to keep a consistent temperature inside and reduce the heat coming through the north facing windows.

The internal layout was altered to achieve an open plan living space, the previous layout had no flow to any of the rooms. The bathroom was completely re-done to maximise the small space. Due to the lack of windows, a skylight was installed directly above the shower with a pitched ceiling, to bring in natural light and make the space feel bigger. We moved the location of the shower, toilet and vanity to work with the skylight and improve the functionality of the bathroom.

The bedrooms were updated with new carpet, feature walls and new robes. Overall this was a budget friendly renovation, only spending where necessary and on items that made a difference, we were able to update the home to feel like new and work as new.
